Where to Find Additional Assistance

Several organizations are working tirelessly to provide aid to those affected by the fires. Here are some key resources:

  • American Red Cross: The Red Cross is providing shelter, food, emotional support, and health services to displaced residents. You can find information on shelters and services on their website (redcross.org) or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS or texting REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 contribution.
  • Los Angeles County Emergency Management Department: This department coordinates disaster response and recovery efforts in the county. Their website (ready.lacounty.gov) offers valuable information and resources for those affected by emergencies.

  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA): FEMA provides assistance to individuals and families affected by disasters. You can apply for assistance online at DisasterAssistance.gov.

Mental Health Support: The trauma of experiencing a fire can have a significant impact on mental health. If you or someone you know needs mental health support, contact the Disaster Distress Helpline at 1-800-985-5990

    Support First Responders/LAFD

The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation is running a campaign to provide critical support for the LAFD firefighters as they work tirelessly to save lives and protect property during these devastating wildfires.  Donations to this campaign will directly help equip firefighters with essential tools and supplies, including:
  • Emergency Fire Shelters: Lightweight, compact shelters that protect firefighters when they become overrun by flames, reflecting radiant heat and providing breathable air.
  • Hydration Backpacks: Designed to carry three quarts of water, these backpacks keep firefighters hydrated during grueling 12-hour shifts on the fire line.
  • Wildland Brush Tools: Durable, specialized tools that help crews clear brush, cut tree limbs, and create firebreaks to slow the spread of wildfires.

Your contribution can make a real difference in ensuring our local heroes have the resources they need to stay safe and effective on the front lines. You can donate directly to the LAFD Foundation here!

    Donation Drop-Offs and Volunteering

Many local schools, YMCAs, and community centers have partnered with the American Red Cross to collect donations for those affected by the wildfires. They are accepting donations including water, food items, bread, peanut butter, jam, fruits, blankets, and emergency supplies. The Koreatown and Anderson Munger YMCAs have requested volunteer help to transport goods. Keep up with them on Instagram at @amfymca_ktown for the latest needs.
