A major step in the redevelopment of downtown Palm Springs was recently revealed, with the opening of the Kimpton Rowan hotel and the adjacent Starbucks Reserve Bar, as well as Museum Way – a new road connecting Palm Canyon Drive and the Palm Springs Art Museum.
See below for a description of some of the new offerings of downtown Palm Springs.

The Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs is a 153-room hotel, which at seven stories is now the tallest building in downtown Palm Springs. Their pool is located on the rooftop, boasting beautiful 360-degree views, along with a fine dining restaurant, 4 Saints, and the poolside High Bar, serving drinks and bar bites. The hotel also houses Juniper Table, a casual dining spot located on the first floor with both indoor seating and outdoor tables on a patio that opens to a new pedestrian plaza, and the Window Bar, a lobby lounge serving classic cocktails.

Heading up the hotel’s restaurants is Chef Stephen Wambach, formerly of the Four Seasons Chicago and Chef de Cuisine at Manhattan’s Michelin-starred Marc Forgione, and he has created diverse offerings for each of the dining options. Juniper Table’s all-day menu includes hot and cold breakfast items, sandwiches, salads and shareable bites like the Moroccan Flatbread (avocado, turmeric, Serrano chile, oregano, toasted garlic, demi-sec tomato). 4 Saints features sharable plates, including Ricotta Cavatelli (smoked lamb, matsutake, chestnut, caraway, puffed rye) and Hamachi Crudo (tangerine, yuzu, fennel, dill), as well as entrees such as Dry Aged Duck (foie gras sausage, dates, sweet and sour beets, caramelized fennel), Bone in Double Cut NY Steak (sauce chasseur, smoked tomato on the vine, potato fondant) and Baja Kampachi (porcini, leek, dill, wild juniper, sorrel). Chef Wambach forages for the wild juniper in the high desert bushes near Joshua Tree, adding a true local flavor to his dishes.

Just across the pedestrian plaza is the new Starbucks Reserve bar, located on the corner of North Palm Canyon Drive and Tahquitz Canyon Way. In addition to the standard menu, the Reserve bar offers special brewing methods (like nitro cold brew, Chemex and siphon) and unique, premium ingredients. They also offer coffee ice cream drinks, like a Cold Brew Ice Cream Float. Starbucks Reserve replaces the Starbucks location previously occupying the space just across Tahquitz Canyon Way.

As you drive down Palm Canyon, you can now turn onto Museum Way for direct access to the Palm Springs Art Museum’s main location. The new downtown park in between Palm Canyon drive and the museum is currently under construction.

If you haven’t visited the museum’s Kinesthesia: Latin American Kinetic Art, 1954-1969 exhibition, do yourself a favor and go. The Chromosaturation installation by Carlos Curz-Diez is a trippy immersive experience that you won’t want to miss!
